Low Income Neighborhoods Have Many of the Schools with the Highest Concentration of Unsatisfactory Teachers

The distribution of teacher quality in New York City is unequal, creating yet another obstacle for students who often need the most support from our public education system. The map below provides a snapshot of the inequality in our schools.

The red circles represent schools with the highest concentrations of Unsatisfactory rated teachers in the 2011-12 school year. Many of those schools are in communities with higher rates of poverty. Click one of the circles to learn more about the school and find out how you can get involved.
