Taking a Stand for Education

Lisa Davila // July 28, 2014

As a working mom, I often feel pulled in different directions. I find there are never enough hours in the day, often leaving me unable to be as involved in my child’s education as I would like. I do what I can, but I don’t always feel like my voice is heard.

That’s why I was moved to see Campbell Brown speak out on issues that many of us care about. Ms. Brown is helping to organize parents to change the education system in New York. Pushing to remove outdated regulations that protect ineffective teachers at the expense of our children.

As parents, we know that a great teacher can unlock a world of opportunity. And we also know the devastating impact that an ineffective teacher can have. For us, this is not an abstract political argument. It is critical issue, and anyone willing to use whatever platform they may have to make that case has my full support.

I am thankful Ms. Brown is willing to put her time and energy into helping improve my child’s education, giving a voice to so many moms like me who have felt ignored for far too long.
