A number of the candidates in the New York City mayoral race have called for dismantling the education reforms of the last decade. We believe this would be a disaster for our children and the city. We cannot turn back the clock on our kids.
To demonstrate why we must continue down the path of reforming our schools, below is a look at where New York City’s schools are today and where they were before the reforms.
Clearly there is more work to be done so that every child gets the education they deserve, but going backwards will not get our kids ahead.
