Parents Demand Accountability from Mayor de Blasio Outside Mayoral Control Hearing

Public school parents from across New York City gathered outside the New York Senate's second mayoral control hearing to send a clear message: Parents are dissatisfied with the quality of NYC public schools and they expect Mayor de Blasio to be held accountable.

Mayor Bill de Blasio wants the authority to control New York City public schools, but he doesn’t want the accountability that comes with it. But the simple truth is that authority without accountability is not leadership. If Mayor de Blasio wants mayoral control, he needs to start leading and take meaningful measures to turn around chronically failing schools and give our students the high-quality education they deserve.
